Made to Move: The Story Behind BuckleBird
I’ve had a thing for bags since forever.
I’m not just talking about designer ones (though I’ve loved a few of those too). I mean the city bags from souvenir shops, the funky leather crossbodies I found at dusty roadside markets, even the shopping bags I can’t bring myself to throw away. My husband teases me about my “bag stash,” but hey — you never know when one might come in handy. 😉
Bags have always been more than accessories to me. They’re memory holders. Story keepers. Personality pieces.
So when I finally decided to build something of my own — something bold, beautiful, and unapologetically different — of course it had to be bags.
That’s how BuckleBird was born.
I’m Andrea — a Navy wife, mom, and lifelong nomad-turned-rooted farm girl on 10 acres in North Carolina. After years of following orders, moving across oceans, raising babies, and showing up for everyone else, I realized it was time to create something just for me (and you).
Something fun. Something authentic. Something handmade — with a little western rebellion.
At BuckleBird, I work directly with skilled artisans who handcraft each piece using traditional methods and real materials. These aren’t mass-produced. These are bags with soul.
Whether you're headed to a concert, a farm market, or catching a flight, BuckleBird is for the kind of woman who doesn’t blend in.
If you are here reading this, I appreciate you more than you know. I hope you find something here that makes you feel a little more bold, a little more you.
